Dispatches from Argentina

Guest post by Agus of Sin Pecado Concebida

"I have lots of work to do today, but I just went to the grocery store and I'm making soup. The bag in which the basil lies has been moving for the last 20 minutes... I guess its going to fall, but I rather it decides ". An excerpt from Lolas autobiography, it gives us a sense of what kind of artist she is and how she creates relationships with the most mundane things around her. Her craft-full hands design little creatures that travel around the city and become salt and pepper shakers, egg holders or even tea-pots. They are all extremely cute yet utilitarian. The perfect combo, huh? You can find more info on Lola on her webpage: www.muitotosto.com/lola

Dispatches from Argentina: Olsen

Guest post by Agus of Sin Pecado Concebida

A couple of Sundays ago I was at Olsen, the famous nordic restaurant in the neighborhood of Palermo in Buenos Aires. Have you heard of it? I really liked all the interior deco with its puritan scandinavian ambiance, but above all i was infatuated with the copper pendant lamps that hung from the tall tall ceilings. When I got home and googled-it and came to discover that it was David Derksens work, a Danish designer that has dedicated the last years of his career to extend his collection of copper pieces into a series of lamp shades. They are all made with .1mm copper foils giving the lamp an overall fragile yet industrial look. A total keeper.

The images are both the artists and mine.

Dispatches from Argentina: Miga de Pan

Guest post by Agus of Sin Pecado Concebida

(Hello dear readers! Today I'm thrilled to introduce you to Agus of the blog, Sin Pecado Concebida from Buenos Aires!  Agus will be joining us as a Dispatch contributor for the next little while from Argentina! So help me welcome her and her first beautiful post about Adriana of Miga de pan). ~Jan

Did you know there is a little cat in the garden?. Literally a crumb of bread, Miga de pan, is an Argentinian blog featuring all the drawings, embroidery and dollmaking of Adriana. She truly is an international inspiring artist with magazine covers all the way to Japan. She made this particular cat for a backpack but it turned out to be a showcase of embroidery stitches where she used 27 points of embroidery and needlework, can you imagine it?

Not to miss Gabriel the deer either, hes a keeper.
