Visiting Artist Series: Amy Rice at The Lunenburg Cultural Centre

In August Minneapolis Mixed Media Artist, Amy Rice will be the first artist in a series of visiting artists at The Lunenburg Cultural Centre in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

The exhibition has two components Amy tells us, "one is all heart; a body of work on antique paper, love letters and found documents, inspired by both my new puppy Pumpkin and by images of packs of wild dogs. It attempts to document and reconcile my feelings about having caught myself a sweet and wild Pumpkin."  Sampling of images can be found here.

"The second component is more about technique, the type of art-making that sparks my brain. Inspired by my recent experience of writing a how-to book, (Playing with Stencils, Quarry Publishing, out next spring) it is large pieces on fabric utilizing many different print making tools and techniques".  Sampling of images here and below.  We love seeing the process!

In addition to an exhibition of new work, Amy will be doing a lecture/ discussion and print making demonstration. She will focus on simple print making techniques using easily available tools and materials. Each participant will have the opportunity to create their own small piece of original mixed media art to take home. This event will be fun for artists and non-artists alike.

How awesome,  I wish I was nearer to the East coast!
